Why I'm running for Jr. Vice Commander

In the VFW, I see many of our Posts and members facing challenges—declining membership, difficulty in understanding  of training, administrative confusion, and, most importantly, veterans who still need us. I didn’t step forward to run because of ambition; I stepped forward because I see gaps that need to be addressed and I have the experience to help close them. Just like in the field, if you have the ability to help—you have the obligation to act.

My goals for California's veterans

As a Navy Combat Medic, everything came down to outcomes—did we stabilize the patient, did we keep them in the fight, did we bring them home. That same mindset drives what I hope to achieve as Jr. Vice Commander: measurable, meaningful improvements that directly impact veterans and strengthen the VFW across California.

First and foremost, I want to improve access and outcomes for veterans. That means ensuring every Post is not just a meeting place, but a functional hub of support—connected to benefits, mental health resources, community services, and advocacy. We should be closing gaps, not just identifying them. If a veteran walks into a Post anywhere in California, they should leave better off than when they came in.

Second, I intend to rebuild and grow our membership with purpose. Not just numbers—but engagement. We need to bring in the next generation of veterans, particularly post-9/11, and give them a reason to stay. That means relevant programs, strong leadership, and engaged Posts.

My dedication and leadership

As a Navy Combat Medic, my foundation in leadership was built in environments where hesitation had consequences. I served with the 24th Marine Amphibious Unit and was stationed aboard the USS Nassau during the Beirut operations. In those conditions, leadership meant staying calm under pressure, making critical decisions quickly, and always putting the welfare of others first. That experience shaped how I approach every leadership role—I don’t step back when things get difficult, I step forward.

Since my military service, I’ve carried that same commitment into Government Service the Veterans of Foreign Wars and my work serving veterans across California.

One of my most significant leadership efforts has been at **VFW Post 1679 in Ventura**, where I served as Commander. During my time, I focused on operational stability, community engagement, and rebuilding trust within the Post. We strengthened programs, improved participation, and positioned the Post as a reliable resource for veterans and the local community.
